The Spokane Indians took care of business Thursday night against the Boise Hawks, defeating them 4-2 in only two hours and three minutes in front of 4,466 fans at Avista Stadium.
The game was the fastest nine inning game for the Indians all season and the victory gives the Indians their fourth straight win.
The Indians got on the board quickly in the bottom of the first when Miguel Velazquez grounded out to first base to score Edward Martinez from third base. Boise answered right back in the top of the second when Robert Wagner homered over the right field wall with Greg Rogan on base. Spokane tied it up 2-2 in the bottom of the third on a ground out by Martinez, scoring Denny Duron.
The game stayed tied up until the bottom of the seventh when Clark Murphy singled up the middle to score Jared Prince. Spokane added an insurance run in the eighth when Velazquez singled to score Duron. The single by Velazquez extended his hitting streak to 12 straight games.
Indians starter Robbie Ross went six innings, giving up four hits and two runs while striking out five batters. Justin King picked up the win, his third of the season, going three innings and allowing two hits and no runs.
The Indians are now 33-33, the first time they have been at .500 since June 25th when they were 3-3.
