SPOKANE -- Vancouver first baseman Justin Atkinson hit a game-tying home run in the top of the ninth inning to force extra innings, but an error by Vancouver third baseman Dickie Thon in the 10th gave Spokane a 3-2 win.

CF Christopher Garia and SS Alberto Truinfel drew back-to-back walks in the bottom of the 10th, and with two outs RF Ryan Cordell stepped up to the plate. Cordell hit a routine ground ball to Thon, who threw the ball in the dirt allowing Garia to score the game's winning run.

LHP Yohander Mendez had yet another great outing, as the pitcher from Valencia, Venezuela pitched five innings, allowing one run and striking out three. It was also his first outing this season where he didn't allow a walk. Spokane's other left-handed pitcher, Ryne Slack (1-0), pitched one inning in relief to earn the win.

Barrett Serrato, who flew into Spokane a few hours before first pitch, started at first base and collected two hits in four at-bats. C Kevin Torres doubled twice, increasing his batting average to .227.

Garia, Truinfel, Marcus Greene and Janluis Castro each added hits for the Indians in their second extra-innings win in three days.

The Indians series-ending game against Vancouver will begin Thursday at 6:30 PM.
