EVERETT -- The 2013 season ended the way it started for the Spokane Indians, with consecutive losses to the team that claimed the North Division title in both halves of the season.
Tim Hulett's team lost 9-3 in Monday's season finale. Spokane fell out of playoff contention with Sunday's loss, which kept them from finishing ahead of Everett in the second half or Vancouver in the overall standings.
After scoring on a sacrifice fly in the third inning, Everett pulled ahead 3-0 on a Phillips Castillo two-run homer. They went ahead 4-0 on a Lonnie Kauppila fielders choice RBI.
Spokane broke through in the sixth on RBI singles from Jordan Akins and Janluis Castro. They made it a one-run game on a Ryan Cordell seventh inning RBI double.
That's as close as they got, with Everett responding with five runs in the bottom half of the seventh.
Spokane closes their 2013 campaign with a 38-38 record.
