Hops halt Indians' offense for 5-1 victory

Spokane, WA - Hillsboro starter Ryan Doran made his Northwest League debut by shutting down the Spokane Indians offense Sunday afternoon, leading the Hops to a 5-1 win at Avista Stadium in front of 5,242 fans.

Doran, who was recently called up from the Arizona Diamonbacks Rookie League, lasted eight innings and allowed six hits and one run. He struck out seven batters.

Indians starter Kelvin Vasquez had yet another solid outing despite allowing one home run in five strong innings. He struck out seven batters to bring his season total to a team-leading 59, which is also good for second in the NWL. It was also Vasquez's first outing without walking a single batter.

Barrett Serrato singled home Jordan Akins in the second inning for Spokane's lone run. Akins, Janluis Castro, Eduard Pinto and Cam Schiller collected hits for Spokane.
