Spokane, WA - The Vancouver Canadians topped the Spokane Indians 5-1 in front of a sold-out crowd of 6,941 fans at Avista Stadium. Spokane (16-7) still holds a two-game lead over Vancouver (14-9) in the North Division despite dropping just its second game at Avista Stadium in 2014.
The Canadians jumped out to an early lead after starter Derek Thompson, suffering his fourth loss of the season, allowed three runs in the first three innings. Thompson tossed five innings and struck out a season-high six batters. He has 22 punch outs this season, leading the team.
Luke Tendler added two hits - one off of the center field wall to score Seth Spivey from second - raising his average to .329. Tendler's average is good enough to place him third in the Northwest League. Spivey added one hit and is now holding a .328 average to place him right behind Tendler in the league rankings.
