The Spokane Indians fell 5-2 to the Yakima Bears Saturday night at Avista Stadium in front of 4,577 fans. The Indians had three errors that contributed to three unearned runs by the Bears.
Yakima was the first to strike in the second inning, scoring two runs to take the 2-0 lead. Spokane tied up the game in the bottom of the third when with Jason Ogata on first base, Jared Prince belted the ball over the left field wall for his sixth home run of the season.
The Bears took the lead back in the fifth for good on a throwing error by the Indians’ Alberto Puello that allowed Roberto Rodriguez to score. They added two more runs in the eighth inning to make up the final score of 5-2.
Prince finished the night 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Joe Bonadonna and Puello both had two hits, including one double each.
Indians starter Ben Henry picked up the loss, allowing four hits and three runs, all of which were unearned. Henry also struck out six batters while walking three. Reiner Bermudez put in 2.2 innings of work, allowing three hits while fanning six batters. Justin King and Sam Brown pitched the final two innings, with King giving up two runs. The Indians finished the night with 15 strikeouts.
The Indians return to Avista Stadium tomorrow to play the final game of the season against Yakima.
