Seattle Mariners right fielder Ichiro Suzuki has been traded to the New York Yankees, several media outlets are reporting.
The right fielder joined the Mariners in 2001. He was named Rookie of the Year and American League MVP that year.
Ichiro set a major league record with over 200 hits in each of his first 10 seasons, batting over .300 each year and winning the American League MVP as a rookie. But in 2011, he amassed 184 hits, batting .272.
This season, Ichiro has been moved around the lineup and is batting just .259.
Former Mariner Jay Buhner recently told ESPN 710 Seattle that he'd "vomit'' if Ichiro got a multi-year deal, even at a huge pay cut.
