SPOKANE – Gonzaga University women’s basketball senior Haiden Palmer was recognized as an honorable mention All-American by the Associated Press Tuesday.
Palmer is the fourth Bulldog to earn Associated Press All-America accolades, joining Zag greats Shannon Mathews (2005), Stephanie Hawk (2007) and Courtney Vandersloot (2009, 2010, 2011).
Palmer, a guard from Moreno Valley, Calif., capped off her Gonzaga career with another great season. She led the team in points (15.1), rebounds (5.5) and steals per game (3.0), while also dishing out 2.6 assists per game and shooting an impressive 42.4 percent (211-of-498) from the field. Her steals per game currently ranks fourth in the nation.
Palmer, who was named All-WCC this season for the third-consecutive year, scored in double-figure points in 27 of 34 contests, including six games with 20 or more points. She registered three double-figure rebounding games and had two double-doubles.
Palmer closed out her career ranked second in the Gonzaga career record book for steals at 286, 10th in field goals made at 550 and 11th in points scored at 1,367. Her 513 total points tallied this season ranks 10th in the single-season record book, while her 103 steals ranks fourth.
