MOSCOW - The vibe at Vandals' practice remains positive in spite of Idaho's difficult 0-and-4 start. That's largely thanks to their coach.
The opening month of the year seemed to get tougher for Robb Akey's team with their overtime loss to Wyoming. But Akey says they were a play away from talking about a win instead, and because of that they choose to focus on the progress they've made in recent weeks.
One of the notable improvements has been their play on offense. The Vandals scored a season-high 37 points, and rushed for over 200 yards.
As Idaho focuses on UNC in their final non-conference tuneup they will harp on what's going right.
"We are that close, don't worry about the rocks getting thrown at us from the outside world," Akey said. "If we stay diligent about the way we've done things than we are going to be reaping the rewards of getting victories."
The Vandals visit UNC Saturday at 12:30 p.m. (PT).
