SEATTLE -- Cougar football fans can almost hear Glenn Johnson's voice booming through Martin Stadium as it announces that name -- Griffey.
Which means the teen who bears that legendary name could be one step closer to pulling on the Crimson and Gray. Cougfan.com reported Monday that head football coach Paul Wulff and the staff made it official, offering a scholarship to Trey Griffey, son of Seattle Mariners legend Ken Griffey, Jr.
It's the second of three offers Griffey has gotten in the last few weeks -- besides Florida International, Florida Atlantic has also extended an offer, according to Rivals.com.
Griffey transferred for his senior season from West Orange High School to Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando, Florida.
Not all Coug fans are sold though. One tweeted, "This is not baseball and he is not his dad. Also, this is not 1995."
On the flipside, another said, "Having Junior for Dad's Weekend sounds nice..."
