PULLMAN -- For the first time this season, the Washington State men's basketball team was on display at Beasley Coliseum. They beat Lewis-Clark State 73-51 in an exhibition game on Monday night in front of a few thousand fans.
Three true freshmen (Reggie Moore, Xavier Thames, Brock Motum) and one redshirt freshman (John Allen) saw action in the first half. Moore is the only on that started the game. He scored six points and handed out eight assists in 23 minutes.
Ferris High School product DeAngelo Casto had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, but it was Klay Thompson who led the team in scoring. The sophomore made 6-of-9 shots (4-for-4 from three-point range) for 19 points.
Sophomore guard Michael Harthun also played well, going 5-for-6 from the field for ten points.
All 15 players that suited up for Washington State saw action, including Shadle Park High School graduate Anthony Brown. He went scoreless in three minutes of work.
The Cougars now focus their attention on Friday's season opener against Mississippi Valley State. Tip-off is scheduled for 7pm at Beasley Coliseum.
