SPOKANE -- The Indians offense never found its groove, as Eric Brooks -- making his first start -- allowed four runs early in the game and Spokane fell 9-3 to the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes.

After Brooks allowed just one hit in the first frame, Janluis Castro doubled home Gabe Roa to take an early 1-0 lead. Castro also knocked in another RBI in the eighth inning. Brandon Garcia scored the Indians' final run, a solo home run for his second of the season.

The Volcanoes erupted for five runs in the 6th inning, as Salem-Keizer bat around the order. Catcher Ty Ross and right fielder Brian Ragira each had two RBI for the Volcanoes.

Brooks allowed five hits and four runs in four innings pitched. He also struck out three Volcanoes batters while walking only two. Brett Anderson, making his Avista Stadium debut, allowed two more runs on three hits in one inning.

Cam Schiller extended his team-leading six-game hitting streak with a single in the first inning and another in the eighth. Barrett Serrato and Jamie Jarmon also collected hits for the Indians.

The teams continue their series Friday at 6:30 p.m.
