EVERETT, WA. -- The Spokane Chiefs saw their two game winning streak snapped Saturday night as the Everett Silvertips defeated Spokane for the 5th time in 6 games this year with a 5-1 win in Everett.
Everett jumped out to a 2-0 lead late in the first period on goals by Byron Froese and Kellen Tochkin a minute and 36 seconds apart. The Chiefs would pull within 2-1 after one as Kyle Beach would score shorthanded with just 12.8 seconds left in the first. Mitch Wahl and Jared Spurgeon got the assists on Beach’s team leading 36th goal of the season.
Tyler Maxwell would score 5:16 into the second period to give Everett a 3-1 lead after two periods. Everett outshot Spokane 28-14 after two while the Chiefs did not generate a power play opportunity.
Tochkin scored his second of the night just 49 seconds into the third period and Everett added another goal just over 4 minutes later to make it 5-1 Silvertips.
The Chiefs will return home Wednesday night when they host the Moose Jaw Warriors at 7pm.
