SPOKANE -- The Indians left the bases loaded in the ninth inning as the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes prevented another walk-off win, topping Spokane 3-2 on Wednesday night in front of 5,427 fans at Avista Stadium.

Trailing 3-1 heading into the final frame, Luke Tendler singled home Seth Spivey and advanced Jose Trevino to third base. Isiah Kiner-Falefa drew a walk to load the bases for Fernando Vivili, Monday night’s walk-off hero. Vivili crushed a first-pitch fastball from Eury Sanchez that drifted foul at the last second, forcing the Spokane players back into the dugout. Vivili struck out and Juremi Profar popped out to end the game.

Spokane led off the bottom of the first inning with back-to-back hits, including an RBI single from Diego Cedeno to score Eduard Pinto. The Indians would be held hitless until the ninth inning rally began.

Indians starter Richelson Pena allowed one three-run home run to Austin Slater to give Salem all the runs needed. Pena fanned eight batters in six innings of work. Erik Swanson and Adam Parks combined to throw three scoreless innings to finish the contest.
