RENTON -- The Seahawks announced the signing of former Eastern Washington wide receiver Greg Herd Wednesday afternoon, to take the place of released wideout Matt Austin.
Herd, a Tacoma native, played high school football at Steilacoom High School. He originally signed with the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent in April.
During his career in Cheney Herd played in 47 games, finishing 9th in Eags' history with 165 grabs, 11th with 2,348 yards and 13th with 17 touchdowns.
As a junior Herd was a second team All-Big Sky pick after setting career-highs with his 67 catches, 1,022 yards and seven touchdowns. Herd wrapped up his EWU career with 66 catches for 952 yards and seven touchdowns in 2012.
