A new NFL bag policy goes into effect at CenturyLink field this Saturday for the first 2013 home preseason game against the Broncos. On their website, the Seahawks say the new measures are designed to enhance public safety and expedite entry into the stadium.

Fans will be allowed the following items:

  • Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12" x 6" x 12."
  • One-gallon clear plastic freezer bags (Ziploc bag or similar).
  • Small clutch bags, approximately the size of a hand, with or without a handle or strap, may be carried into the stadium along with one of the clear bag options.
  • An exception will be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection at a gate designated for this purpose.

The Seahawks will distribute approved bags at this Saturday's preseason game against the Broncos and at the September 15 game against the 49ers. If fans arrived unprepared for the new policy, there will be three temporary Bag Check Stations.

Some fans have expressed concern for the new bag policy, specifically that the bags won't be available in advance and aren't large enough.
