The Inland Northwest saw three of its four prep football teams advance to the state semifinal round in Saturday's state tournament action.

Ferris returns to the 4A semis after handing Eisenhower its first defeat of the season, 24-14 at Zaephel Stadium in Yakima. The Saxons will face Skyview (10-3) of the Vancouver, Washington area next Saturday. Last year, Ferris' run at a state title ended in the semis against eventual champion Skyline.

In the 3A, Mt. Spokane saw its season end at the hands of Lakes (12-0) in a 24-0 disappointing loss at Joe Albi Stadium. It's just the second loss of the season for the Wildcats, and ends their 10 game winning streak.

West Valley stayed undefeated...barely. The Eagles outlasted Othello in overtime after blowing a 15 point lead in the 4th quarter to win 28-22. Next up: a match up at Joe Albi on Saturday against 12-0 Ellensburg in the semis.

The top-ranked team in the 1A is headed to the semifinals. Colfax throttled South Bend of the Washington coast 37-6, as the Bulldogs are now just two wins from a state crown.

In Idaho, Prairie suffered its first loss of the season, and it happened to come in the 1AD1 state title game against Oakley at Holt Arena in Pocatello, 28-20. The Pirates hadn't given up more than eight points in a game all season prior to the loss versus the Hornets.

Other state tournament action had the Cheney girls soccer team falling to Archbishop Murphy, 2-0 in Puyallup.
