Washington tailback Bishop Sankey earned a spot on the Doak Walker Award preseason watch list, the PwC SMU Athletic Forum announced today. The Doak Walker is given annually to the nation's top college running back.

Sankey, a sophomore tailback from Spokane, Wash., rushed for 1,439 yards last season, his first as the UW starter. Those 1,439 yards were third-most in Husky history while his 16 rushing touchdowns were second-most.

Earlier this month, Sankey was named to the watch list for the Maxwell Award (top player in the country).

The Doak Walker Award, which was won by Washington's Greg Lewis in 1990, will be presented on Dec. 12.

The Huskies open the 2013 season Aug. 31 when Boise State visits newly-renovated Husky Stadium.
