SPOKANE, WA. -- James Reid’s 26 saves and Brady Brassart’s second goal in as many games were enough for the Spokane Chiefs to get by the Kelowna Rockets in a 1-0 win on Sunday night in the Spokane Arena. The Chiefs are 2-0 on the season against Kelowna.
Reid recorded his second shutout of the season, his sixth career and has won his sixth straight games. The win pulled the Chiefs even with the Everett Silvertips for third place in the U.S. Division with 25 points apiece. Spokane has now won seven of their last nine games and is 12-7-1-0 on the season.
The Chiefs won two of three games at home this week and face four straight on the road before they return home on November 28th. The stretch will include three games in three nights next Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Edmonton, Red Deer and Calgary respectively.
Brassart finished a play that begun with a Kyle Beach cross ice pass to Jared Spurgeon. Spurgeon went backdoor for an awaiting Brassart who roofed it in for the lone goal of the game.
Reid’s shutout lowers his goals against average to 2.19, good for second place in the WHL. He has now won 10 games this season.
The Chiefs will return home on Saturday, November 28th when they host the Regina Pats.
