MOSCOW -- On Saturday the Vandals will return to the Kibbie Dome for their home opener, which also marks Paul Petrino's return to the sidelines in Moscow - this time as a head coach.

After a pair of tough road trips to North Texas and Wyoming, Idaho welcomes Northern Illinois.

Petrino knows the Kibbie Dome atmosphere well, since he coached during one of the great spans in program history. Petrino was an assistant to John L. Smith from 1992-to-1994. During the 1993 season they started what ended up being a 21-game home winning streak. Petrino was around for nearly half of it and knows those runs are a staple of a strong program.

"We're gonna get fired up, we're gonna get excited," Petrino said. "We will have a great winning streak sometime in this dome, there's no doubt in my mind."

The Vandals host the Huskies Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
