EVERETT -- Gonzaga grad Tyler Olson will begin his professional baseball career in familiar territory, but likely won't take the mound this weekend in Spokane.
Olson is scheduled to start for the Everett AquaSox in their home opener Monday against Tri-City.
The University High School product was assigned to the Everett AquaSox earlier this week. Seattle's Short Season Class A affiliate opens the 2013 Northwest League season with three games against the Indians beginning Friday at 6:30 p.m.
Olson was drafted in the 7th round by the Mariners, following a WCC Pitcher of the Year campaign as a senior for the Zags. The left handed pitcher went 9-4 with a 2.38 ERA for Gonzaga.
