The high school regular season wasn't long enough to determine final standings in the Northeast A, Inland Empire League, or Greater Spokane League. That's why they need tiebreakers to settle final playoff seeds.

The Northeast A and IEL wrapped things up on Monday night.

Coeur d'Alene walked away victorious in a double-elimination Kansas tiebreaker at Lake City High School. Post Falls eliminated Lewiston, and then the Vikings were able to advance past the Trojans without a loss.

That means Coeur d'Alene faces Lake City (at Lake City High School) on Friday night at 7pm in the opening round of the 5A state tournament.

The Northeast A needed to determine seeding for its crossover games with the Caribou Trail League. They also played a double-elimination Kansas tiebreaker at Newport High School. Freeman went undefeated to earn the No. 2 seed (Chewelah is the No. 1), while Kettle Falls knocked off Lakeside twice for the No. 3 seed. Lakeside is out of state contention with the No. 4 seed.

The crossover games with state implications will be played Saturday in Moses Lake. Freeman faces Omak at 1pm, Kettle Falls plays Cascade (Leavenworth) at 4pm, and Chewelah battles Okanogan at 7pm.

The GSL will hold its tiebreaker on Tuesday at Joe Albi Stadium. Ferris plays Gonzaga Prep in the first game at 6pm (the games consist of two eight minutes halves). The winner of that game plays University at approximately 6:45pm.

We'll have all the highlights on KREM 2 News at 10pm and 11pm. You can also find all the goods right here on the high school page on KREM.com.
