RENTON -- Benson Mayowa appears to be making the most of his opportunity with the Seahawks.

The former Idaho defensive end signed with the team after rookie minicamp, and continues to impress his head coach. Carroll likes his 6-3 252 pound frame, and ability as a pass rusher. That skill set is a key component to Seattle's defense.

Carroll joked Tuesday about knowing Mayowa's last name -  something he struggled with back in May.

"He’s shown an unusual knack rushing the passer," Carroll said. "So far, he’s been very impressive. We don’t know what that means at this point, we haven’t gotten him in enough live situations. But every day he’s made a play of some sort to gain some recognition. So we’re kind of hopeful to see what that means."
