SPOKANE -- A crowd of 6,181 fans were on hand for Spokane Indians Opening Night, as the Everett AquaSox defeated the Indians 6-4, despite a furious rally led by a couple of triples

Just one inning later, in the bottom of the fifth, Saquan Johnson, one of the ten returning 2012 Spokane Indians, reached third on a fly ball to right field. Just one batter later, Christopher Garia sacrificed himself to get Spokane its second run of the night.

Garia wasn't done there. In the bottom of the seventh, Everett replaced starter Rigoberto Garcia (1-0) with Nick Valenza. Valenza walked both Truinfel and Brandon Garcia in consecutive at-bats. After both runners advance to second and third, respectively, Garia stepped up with two outs and belted the ball to deep center field, scoring both runners for the Indians second triple of the night, bringing Spokane within one run, 5-4. Garia finished with three RBI.

The comeback fell short, however, as Alfredo Morales hit a solo home run in the top of the eighth to right field.

Tomorrow, Saturday, June 15th, is the second game of opening three-game homestand against Everett at 6:30 PM.
