SPOKANE -- Gonzaga University men’s basketball player Mangisto Arop underwent successful surgery on Wednesday in Spokane to repair his broken left foot.

Arop suffered a broken fifth metatarsal in last Sunday’s West Coast Conference Tournament semifinal victory over Loyola Marymount University. The surgery pinned the bone to speed up the healing process.

The freshman forward will be sidelined approximately eight weeks before he can begin a rehabilitation program.

Arop had come off the bench in all 31 of the Bulldogs games prior to the injury, averaging 3.5 ppg, 3.8 rpg and 0.7 assists/game. He was averaging 11.9 minutes/game.

The Bulldogs will find out their NCAA Tournament destination and first round opponent on Sunday. You can only watch the selection show on KREM 2 at 3pm.
