SPOKANE -- Despite being only 4-3 through the first half of the West Coast Conference schedule, the Gonzaga men's basketball team hasn't changed it's goals. They still want the WCC regular season championship.

Many people thought an 11th straight conference title would be out of reach after three straight WCC losses. It was the first time that's happened at Gonzaga in nearly 15 years.

But, then there was a new ray of hope last Saturday. St. Mary's, the top team in the West Coast Conference, who took down Gonzaga in a last-second thriller only two nights before, lost to Portland.

The Gaels' loss leaves the Zags only two games back in the WCC standings with seven conference games left (including another meeting with St. Mary's).

Gonzaga plays Portland on the road on Thursday. The Bulldogs and Pilots are both 4-3 in the conference, but GU took down Portland 74-61 in Spokane on January 8th. Tip-off is scheduled for 8pm at the Chiles Center. You can watch the game live on ESPN2.

The Bulldogs then take a break from the WCC to face Memphis in the Ronald McDonald House Charities Classic at Veterans Memorial Arena. Start time is scheduled for 1pm on either ESPN or ESPN2.
