SALT LAKE CITY, Utah-- The Gonzaga men’s basketball team practiced in Utah on Wednesday for their Thursday game against Southern University. The men play at 1:10 p.m. on Thursday in a second round meeting.

This is the first time Gonzaga has ever entered the tournament as a one seed.

Gonzaga Head Coach Mark Few talked about the one seed, but also how proud he is of their 15th straight trip to the big dance.

Southern has used the word ‘underdog’ a lot this year. The struggling program took a big step in winning the SWAC title. It's their first NCAA appearance since 2006 and 8th overall.

Head Coach Roman Bank said they use Gonzaga as an example of building a program and what they're trying to do at Southern. The Jags are an energy team. Their key is defense, as they've struggled to score at times. They are top-3 in field goal percentage defense, and at guarding the three point line. Banks said they'll have to play their best brand of basketball.
