SPOKANE - Gonzaga University's men's basketball team climbed two more spots to third in the Associated Press Top 25 poll released today.

The latest USA Today rankings also come out later today.

The AP ranking equals the highest ranking the Bulldogs have ever received from the nation's sportswriters. The Zags were third in the final two polls of the 2004 season, receiving one first-place vote the week of March 9 and two first-place votes in the final AP poll of the year the week of March 16.

The 2006 team had 25 regular-season wins, taking a 25-3 record into the WCC Tournament where they won two games then won two more in the NCAA Tournament to finish the season 29-4 to match the 2002 team for most wins in a season.

Indiana University remained atop the AP poll with the University of Miami moving up one spot to second and Gonzaga edged No. 4 Michigan State University by 12 points for the third spot.
