SPOKANE, Wash. -- A star on the Gonzaga Men’s Basketball team was nominated for a national award to celebrate his accomplishments off the court.
Gonzaga Guard Drew Barham was announced as a nominee Tuesday for the 2014 Allstate NABC Good Works Team. It recognizes student-athletes for the contributions to community service.
Barham boasts an impressive resume of community service accomplishments, which include working with St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Toys for Tots, Haven Special Needs Camp’s Special Olympics, and Youth for Christ ministry for children.
There are 117 nominees this year. A final roster of 10 award recipients, comprised of five players from the Division I level and five players from Divisions II, III, and the NAIA will be announced in February.
This is the second year Allstate and the National Association of Basketball Coaches recognized a select group of men’s college basketball student-athletes who stand out for their charitable achievements and community involvement. The players nominated for this prestigious honor are committed to enriching the lives of others while contributing to the greater good of their communities.
