CHENEY - Spokane native and WSU golfer Hank Frame used a bogey putt from the fringe to beat Mike Roters on the second playoff hole Sunday at the 49th Lilac City Invitational.
Frame went wire-to-wire, leading after each round. He did have to put together a late charge, though, following a triple bogey on the par-5 12th hole.
Frame had a chance to regain the lead on the 17th, but missed a birdie putt. His failed attempt came after Roters bogeyed the hole, putting each golfer at -14 heading to the final hole. Frame carded a 73 Sunday, while Roters shot an even par 72.
Both golfers pared the first playoff hole. Frame got up-and-down for bogey, and Roters followed with a missed bogey try of his own, sealing the victory for Frame.
