Former EWU wide receiver Greg Herd signed with the Chicago Bears Tuesday.
Herd spent time with the Seahawks in 2013, getting signed in May and waived following a shoulder surgery in August. He flew to Chicago Monday, and worked out Tuesday before signing. He'll practice with his new team for the 1st time Wednesday.
A Tacoma native, he played high school football at Steilacoom High School. He originally signed with the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent last April.
The Bears needed depth at the position after WSU wide receiver Marquess Wilson to a broken collarbone.
During his career in Cheney Herd played in 47 games, finishing 9th in Eags' history with 165 grabs, 11th with 2,348 yards and 13th with 17 touchdowns.
As a junior Herd was a second team All-Big Sky pick after setting career-highs with his 67 catches, 1,022 yards and seven touchdowns. Herd wrapped up his EWU career with 66 catches for 952 yards and seven touchdowns in 2012.
