CHENEY -- The Eastern Washington football team received its high est ranking ever on Monday. The Eagles are now No. 3 in the country, up one spot from No. 4 last week.

EWU moved up in the national poll after taking down Southern Utah 31-24 on Saturday. No. 1 William and Mary lost, so that opened the door for the Eagles (they also received one first-place vote).

Eastern is sitting pretty on the national scene, but they still have a lot to play for. The Eags face Idaho State on Saturday in Cheney. EWU beats the Bengals, they clinch at least a share of the Big Sky Conference title.

"We have control of our own destiny in terms of a share of the Big Sky title, and that's a big deal," said Eastern head coach Beau Baldwin.

Kickoff between Eastern Washington and Idaho State is slated for 1:05pm at Roos Field on Saturday.

We'll be at EWU practice on Tuesday. Stay tuned for practice reports and uncut interviews with the team on KREM 2 News and KREM.com.
