PULLMAN -  Mike Leach suspended the Cougars leading receiver, KREM 2 Sports Director Darnay Tripp confirmed Monday morning.

It follows a report in the Moscow-Pullman Daily News that Marquess Wilson walked out of a conditioning drill just 20 minutes into a two-hour session on Sunday, the day after the Cougs lost 49-6 at Utah.

Leach confirmed the suspension in his weekly press conference Monday, saying it was for a "violation of team rules". The first year head coach didn't specifiy the cause of the suspension, just saying it would last at least a week.

There were also rumors that Wilson had left the program. Leach said the last he heard was that Wilson was still with the team.

The junior leads the team's wide receivers in receptions, yards and touchdowns.

Washington State hosts UCLA Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
