KENNEWICK - It looked like the Chiefs and Americans weren't destined for another marathon playoff series. That's when Tri-City came to life.

The Ams clawed back from a 4-1 deficit, thanks to three straight goals in less than eight minutes in the second period to force overtime. In the extra session Connor Rankin slapped home a rebound to complete the comeback.

Tri-City's 5-4 win makes it a 2-1 series heading into Thursday's game four.

Spokane got on the board with a Mike Aviani shorthanded goal in the first period. After Parker Bowles tied it up Alessio Bertaggia fed Mitch Holmberg for a powerplay score, followed by another shorthanded strike off the stick of Blake Gal. Liam Stewart used a wrister to gave the Chiefs their largest lead in the second period.

Eric Williams finished with 38 saves in the 5-4 loss.
