PORTLAND - The Spokane Chiefs suffered their 4th straight loss as the Portland Winterhawks shutout the Chiefs 4-0 on Saturday night in Portland, OR. It was the second consecutive shutout the Winterhawks have given the Chiefs after having beaten Spokane 3-0 on January 25th.

Portland outshot Spokane 21-1 in the first period and took the lead on Taylor Leier's rebound at 14:23 of the period. Brendan Leipsic's power play goal with 17 seconds left in the period gave Portland a 2-0 lead after one. Leipsic tallied his 2nd of the night just 1:05 into the second period for the only goal of the stanza to lift the Hawks to a 3-0 lead after two. Oliver Bjorkstrand's rebound of his own shot late in the third period capped the scoring.
 

Chiefs goalie Eric Williams turned aside 43 Portland shots as the Winterhawks outshot Spokane 47-26. Portland went 1-6 on the power play while the Chiefs were 0-2. Spokane will return home to host the Kelowna Rockets Wednesday night at 7:05pm. Mike Boyle will have the call on 1510 KGA beginning with the pre-game show at 6:30pm.
