Chiefs lose 3-1 to rival Ams

Phillip Tot's two goals led the Tri City Americans to a 3-1 win over the Spokane Chiefs Saturday night in Kennewick, WA. The loss was just the second Spokane has suffered to Tri City in 6 contests this season.

Tot got the scoring started with a power play goal 10:18 into the first period to give Tri a 1-0 lead. Keanu Yamamoto then evened the game for Spokane with his 3rd goal of the year from Dominic Zwerger and Reid Gow at 15:55 to make it a 1-1 contest after the first. The assist was Gow's 40th of the season. Spokane outshot Tri City 13-9 in the period.

Brian Williams would score off a rebound at 16:47 of the second period to give the Americans a 2-1 lead after two. The two teams had 10 shots apiece in the second as the Chiefs turned away two Tri City power plays. In the third, Tot tallied his second of the night off a face-off 8:54 into the period to cap the scoring. Spokane outshot Tri City 32-23 in the game, but went 0-3 on the power play and 3-4 on the penalty kill.

With the loss, Spokane is now 3 points back of second place Seattle in the U.S. Division and 1 point ahead of 4th place Everett. The Chiefs will finish off their 3 game road trip through the division in as many days as they visit first place Portland Sunday at 3:30pm. Mike Boyle wlll have the call on 1510 KGA beginning at 3pm with the pre-game show.
