KAMLOOPS, B.C. - The Spokane Chiefs lost their third straight game as the Kamloops Blazers skated past the Chiefs 7-4 Friday night in Kamloops, B.C. Mitch Holmberg picked up his 3rd hat trick of the season in the loss as Spokane fell a point behind Tri City for 4th place in the Western Conference.

Tim Bozon scored the only goal of the first period to give the Blazers a 1-0 lead after one. Holmberg would draw the Chiefs even with his 28th goal of the season from Mike Aviani and Brenden Kichton on the power play 35 seconds into the second period. Kamloops would get goals from J.C. Lipon and Kale Kessy to take a 3-1 lead before Holmberg would score his second of the night on a breakaway from Aviani and Adam Helewka at 13:45 to bring Spokane within 3-2. Kessy would score his second of the period on the power play late in the period to give Kamloops a 4-2 lead after two.
 

Another Blazer power play goal 1:30 into the third put Kamloops up 5-2. Colin Smith, who had 5 points on the night along with Kessy, scored his league leading 35th goal of the year to make it 6-2 at 8:46 of the period. Holmberg would get his hat trick on his 30th goal of the season from Blake Gal and Aviani at 10:19 to cut the lead to 6-3. Bozon would notch his second tally of the night, and the Blazers third power play goal of the game to give Kamloops at 7-3 lead, before Gal would cap the scoring with his 10th of the year from Helewka at 15:54.
 

Kamloops outshot Spokane 38-28, while going 3-6 on the power play. Spokane was 1-5 on the man advantage. The Chiefs will play Portland in the Rose City for the 4th time in 2 weeks on Saturday night at 7pm. Mike Boyle will have the call on 790 KJRB beginning with the pre-game show at 6:30pm.
