MOSCOW, Idaho-- A blind Nashville man will be making a special visit to the Kibbie Dome Saturday to see the Vandals take on Old Dominion.
The trip will complete Pat Yarber’s quest to visit all 125 college football bowl subdivision stadiums.
It all started over 30 years ago when he went to see a friend play for Vanderbilt in his hometown of Nashville. Since then, he has been traveling around the country visiting every division 1 stadium.
"You got the giant stadiums in the SEC that are cement and glass, then you got the brick stadiums in the Big 10. You've got domes. And they all have their own features," said Yarber.
Yarber got to see the Kibbie Dome from the outside after watching a Washington State game in Pullman and his goal was in sight.
Yarber has what he calls "gun barrel" vision and has lost of his peripheral sight and what sight he has left is starting to fade.
"The reason over the last two years where I stepped it up to hit all the places was because I'm kind of working against the clock. It's closing in from the outside and closing in front of me," said Yarber.
After Saturday's game, he will have reached his goal. Yarber is not sure what he will do next. He said he is going to go back to Nashville and continue watching Vanderbilt games.
Yarber also said he is thinking about writing a book about his experiences.
