SPOKANE, Wash. – The Gonzaga University baseball team is ranked 21st in this week’s Baseball America Top 25 rankings, released the organization Monday.
“It is a testament to the ways our guys go about their business every day,” head coach Mark Machtolf said. “They have had to battle early this year and shown up to play every game. This is a nice accomplishment for us, but we know there is a lot of the season ahead of us and it will not get any easier.”
Gonzaga is currently 14-7-1 overall and 4-2 in West Coast Conference action after winning its second consecutive WCC series last weekend against University of San Diego. The Zags are the lone WCC team represented in the rankings.
The last time Gonzaga was ranked by Baseball America was May of 2011.
The Bulldogs have five games this week beginning Tuesday with a doubleheader against Brown University at Patterson Baseball Complex and Washington Trust Field. Thursday, the Zags will hit the road for a three-game series against Loyola Marymount University.
