SEATTLE - The Seattle Seahawks made it clear Tuesday they do not believe there is merit to the allegations that running back Marshawn Lynch committed assault or personal property damage against a woman over the weekend.

“While we maintain the utmost respect for the investigative process, after speaking with Marshawn, we are comfortable these accusations are bogus,” said a Seahawks spokesperson in a one sentence statement.

Bellevue Police said Monday it was investigating the allegations made by a woman on Sunday. The woman allegedly claimed Lynch assaulted her and damaged her property at Lynch’s downtown Bellevue apartment early Sunday morning.

The police department assigned a detective to the case Monday morning to gather facts and to find out if Lynch was, in fact, involved.

Lynch could not be reached for comment.
