LEWISTON-- The Lewis Clark State College baseball team came up short against Cumberland University on Friday night, as the Warriors were shut out by the Bulldogs in a 3-0 loss. The Bulldogs have now won three NAIA national championships in program history.
Cumberland struck first in the second inning when Richie Seaton hit a line drive down the leftfield line, scoring a pair of runners. The Bulldogs picked up an insurance run in the seventh off of a Josciel Veras hit.
Cumberland pitcher Anthony Gomez scattered six hits throughout the shutout victory. Ty Jackson gave up two runs in the loss.
With the win, Cumberland becomes the lowest seed (No. 10) to win a national title.
