COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho -- Football fans in Coeur d’Alene are rooting for both teams in this year’s Super Bowl.

Jerseys, 12th man flags and even Seahawks themed cars can be spotted throughout Coeur d’Alene. Call it a coincidence but one on the city’s main streets is named “Sherman.” Like Richard Sherman.

“You know, right now I think everyone is pretty much pulling for the Seahawks,” said Jennifer Riley.

At the same time, from Sherman Avenue you can see Kid Island Bay where Broncos legend John Elway has a cabin.

“I’ve been a Broncos fan since I was 15. I thought John Elway was cute don’t understand why now. But I’ve just been a fan ever since,” said Borah Elementary School teacher Misty Lemburg.

Lemburg’s fan ship has lead to an interesting rivalry in her classroom for the last couple of weeks. Her classroom assistant is a Seahawks fan.

“I’ve been here for 8 years and I really like the Seahawks,” said Patrice Lusardi, “We’ve tried to maintain decorum.”

The principal on Borah Elementary used today as an opportunity to stress the school’s message of respect, no matter what team you are rooting for.

“Obviously, we have a fair amount of Bronco fans at our school as well as Seahawk fans,” said Principal Rick Kline, “So we looked at it as an opportunity to tie in our character program. Reflecting on the traits of respect and kindness as well.”

Young fans at the school seemed to get their principal’s message.
