By the end of the day we will know which teams will be taking part in the Super Bowl.
In the opening contest Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos beat the Patriots 26-16 to win the AFC title game, but all eyes in Western Washington are on CenturyLink Field, where the Seahawks take on the 49ers in the NFC Championship game.
This is the third time the NFC West teams have met this season. The Seahawks won the first meeting 29-3 while the Niners came back in the second game 19-17.
The Seahawks are the No. 1 seed, the NFC West champs, but the 49ers are red hot. They've won three straight on the road and eight straight games all together.
But the Niners have struggled at CenturyLink. On Nov. 15, Russell Wilson and Marshawn Lynch led the Hawks to a 29-3 win over San Francisco.
The coaching match-up goes back to college when Jim Harbaugh coached at Stanford and Pete Carroll was at Southern Cal. From all indications they are not the best of friends.
This is the 49ers' third straight appearance in the NFC championship game. That said, the Seahawks have dominated play between the two teams in games played in Seattle, winning by the combined score of 71-16.
