Feast mode: New food awaits hungry 12th Man at Clink

The DangeRuss Dog is inspired by Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and his love of mac ‘n’ cheese. The foot-long hot dog features 100% grass-fed beef links from Northwest-based Corfini Gourmet and is topped off with Beecher’s mac ‘n’ cheese, caramelized onions, house-made Sriracha honey hot sauce and diced jalapeno peppers. Crispy “Seahawks strips” – fried blue and green tortilla chips – finish it off for a little crunch.

Seahawks fans lucky enough to have tickets to Sunday’s NFC Championship Game will have the chance to chow down on some new food by the chefs at the Clink.

When “The Beast Burger” – named after Seahawks star running back Marshawn “Beast Mode” Lynch – debuted at the Seahawks-Saints game last weekend, CenturyLink sold over 1,000 of the burgers.

Meeting the demand of the hungry 12th Man, CenturyLink Executive Chef Seis Kamimura and his culinary team decided to expand their team-themed food for the Championship Game against the San Francisco 49ers.

“The team, a lot of what they do on the field is big, so we wanted to go big too,” said Kamimura. “After the Beast Burger last week, everybody just wanted more.”

Several of the new and unique food items will be offered at the concessions stands:

In honor of the 12th Man, CenturyLink is unrolling their 12s Nachos, an enhanced version of their traditional nachos. The 12s Nachos feature larger blue and green crispy tortilla chips from Seattle-based La Mexicana and is topped with fresh chipotle cheese sauce, sour cream, guacamole, pico de gallo and green onions.

Inside the suites, fans can order the “Boom” Battered Corn Dogs, made with blue and green crusted corn dogs, with bacon bits in the batter, and served with a side of green “Hawks mustard.”

For fans with a sweet tooth, CenturyLink partnered with Diane’s Delights to develop several sweet offerings.  Fans can choose from the ChampionChip 12 Cookies, loaded with extra chocolate chips, and the Jumbo Seahawks Rice Crispy Treats.

Fans can also pre-order a 12s Cake, a foot-wide, 8-inch high cake that features 12 layers of vanilla sponge cake dyed green and blue and vanilla butter cream frosting dotted with Skittles. 

“We’re going to be selling them in the suites. We have enough for 15 orders for this game,” said Chef Brad Van Meerten. “It takes us about eight hours to make one cake from start to finish.”

And CenturyLink will continue to serve up their infamous “Beast Burger,” which features two all-beef hamburger patties, 2 strips of bacon, two slices of cheddar cheese, ham, onion rings, lettuce, tomato and red onion.  It comes with a side of fries and a small bag of Lynch’s favorite candy, Skittles.

“Gotta bring that back, people love it,” said Sous Chef Nick Walsh. “We sold over a thousand last game. We plan on doubling that this game.”

The cost of the special team-themed foods ranges from $6 for the cookies and rice crispy treats, $12 for the DangeRuss Dog and 12s Nachos, $15 for the Beast Burger and $250 for the 12s Cake.
