Seahawks flexed out of prime time

NEW YORK -- The Seattle Seahawks 2-and-9 record means the team is no longer ready for prime time.

The Seahawks Dec. 7 game with the New England Patriots has been rescheduled from 5:15 pm. PST to 1:05 p.m. NBC will instead televise the Washington Redskins-Baltimore Ravens game.

It's the first switch of a game from afternoon to prime time this season.

The Redskins-Ravens game is a clash between two teams in the playoff race with 7-and-4 records. While the Patriots are also in contention at 7-and-4, the Seahawks are out of the running for a postseason berth.

The league's flex scheduling was instituted with the new television contract in 2005 to allow more attractive games to be switched to prime time in the last two months of the season.
