NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana -- Former Gonzaga Prep, WSU, and New Orleans Saints star Steve Gleason led an inspirational pregame cheer before the Saints’ home opener Sunday.
Gleason is the catalyst for our Project Inspire Campaign to tell the stories of inspirational people in our community.
Gleason is fighting the terminal disease Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. He did not let that stop him from providing his own inspiration before the Saints’ game.
As part of Steve Gleason Day in the Superdome, every fan received a special newspaper dedicated to Gleason’s ALS fight and his career with the Saints.
