PARACHINAR, Pakistan (AP) — Police in Pakistan say a suicide bomber on a motorcycle detonated his explosives near a vehicle carrying a candidate from a hard-line Islamist party. Police say at least 12 people were killed and 35 were wounded, but the candidate escaped unharmed.

Today's attack in the northwest part of the country was the second attack on the party (Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam) in as many days.

No one has claimed responsibility for today's bombing, but the Taliban took responsibility for yesterday's attack, claiming it was targeting a candidate who had supported military operations against the militants in the northwest.
