JERUSALEM (AP) — For a third day in a row, Gaza militants have been pummeling southern Israel with rockets.
The Israeli military says more than 110 rockets have hit Israeli towns, including at least a dozen today. One rocket hit a house, and another smashed into a factory, injuring three civilians.
The barrage is increasing pressure on the Israeli government to retaliate. A million Israelis live within range of the rockets, and some are demanding a military operation similar to Israel's bruising incursion into Gaza four years ago. Others believe Israel should target Hamas leaders, a method it used to kill dozens of top militants nearly a decade ago.
On a visit to one of the cities that's been battered by Gaza rockets, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told foreign ambassadors that no government would tolerate such attacks and he has a "duty" to take "whatever action is necessary" to put a stop to them.
A Palestinian health official says six Palestinians, including two members of Islamic Jihad, have been killed in Israeli counterstrikes.
