SPOKANE, Wash.-- A smokey haze in the Inland Northwest prompted concern Sunday.
The Spokane Fire Department responded to several small fires around the area, but none of the events were considered major.
Crews knocked down the flames quickly, but a blanket of smoke covered cities throughout the day.
Local brush fires weren’t the only problem. Smoke from a number of wildfires in Washington, as well as Oregon and California are to blame for the smoke too, according to the National Weather Service.
NWS forecasters say the southwest flow, which is pushing the smoke into basins and valleys, is expected to continue until Tuesday when a cold front will move through the region.
