Thick smoke from several wildfires is filling the air across the Palouse, prompting an air quality advisory.

The haze in Colfax was not there when Steven Bohn started his day at 8 this morning.

“I ran home at 9:00 to get some more material. It was like day and night. All of a sudden, it was super, super thick,” he said.

The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality said winds pushed smoke from several fires burning across the Washington and Oregon.

“I’ve never seen it this bad, even when they used to burn all the stubble. It wasn’t anything like this.”

The air quality advisory means people should limit outdoor activity if they can.

Officials said monitors showed the air in the unhealthy range in Moscow. The same was expected for Colfax and other towns on the Palouse.
